Mayne Island Brewing Company operates in the area called S,KTAK - (Boat Passage) by the SENĆOŦEN speaking peoples, later called Mayne Island by English speaking settlers. The Island lies in the traditional home lands and un-ceded territories of the Straight Salish peoples including the Tsartlip (who have Reserve #6 on the island), the Hul’qumi’num First Nation, the Quw'utsun First Nation, The Tsawout First Nation, The Tsawwassen First Nation and others.
